Cold Turkey Update

On April 30th, I met my new Oncologist....and fired him. Actually, I didn't fire him, I just told him I was tired of doing things the conventional way. I need a break! We talked about what I had in mind to do, as far as alternative modalities, and I asked him if there was any way to monitor my progress without causing me any further anxiety or unwellness. I explained to him, that the last time I had a scan I was physically ill, the entire rest of the day; and my body doesn't seem to want any more Rx drugs.

I asked him about monitoring tumor markers, and he told me that since that's not a reliably accurate system, he's reluctant to use it. He said my markers could be down, but if I have any inflammation in my body, they'll show as being elevated, when they're not. He told me the only reliable way to monitor my condition is by way of scans; I can't do those, anymore. I can't lay flat. At the end of our conversation, he said if I need him again, he's only a phone call away.

In the meantime....this is what I'll be doing.

  • Exercising as much as my worn out, overweight body can handle
    • I intend to lose 100 lbs, and gain some real muscle
    • Exercise will also help me improve my bone mass
  • Take supplements, daily
  • Drink Essiac tea, daily
  • Continue eating plant-based, high raw
    • I can't call myself a vegan; I still eat eggs and raw honey, on occasion
I am very well aware that this may not work; however, conventional medicine has me practically confined to a wheelchair, and unable to do most things a normal person can do; obeying the medical advice of "don't do it, if it hurts; stop doing it, if it starts to hurt" caused me to become sedentary. Everything started to hurt, when I tried to do it! So, I think I'll take my chances with the alternative therapies.

If they don't work, and I have to go back to conventional methods, hopefully I'll be capable of leading a semi-normal life while undergoing treatments. Time will tell.

I'll be joining Planet Fitness, soon; but, considering how limited my mobility is, I may have to spend a few months on the recumbent bike. I've used that machine, during physical therapy, so I'm familiar with it. It's one of my favorite exercise machines, to be honest.

As for the plant-based diet, I'll be enjoying plenty of veggies, fruits, nuts/seeds, whole grains, and beans/legumes. I'm choosing to eat mostly raw foods, because cooking (heating) food depletes some of the nutrients. I need all the nutrition I can swallow, if that's how I'm going to beat cancer!

Abstaining from processed foods, even if they are plant-based, will also help me control my cholesterol levels. My doctor prescribed Lipitor, because she discovered that my cholesterol levels were too high; I haven't taken it, nor will I, ever. My body develops side effects very easily, and two of the side effects of Lipitor are Diabetes, and liver damage. No thank you!

The last chemo cocktail I took was Aromasin and Arimidex; while on these two pills, I developed 14 side effects, including cystic acne. My body does not like prescription drugs!

So....fingers crossed, that this alternative path I'm on does some good!
