Breathing Again

For the last few months, my daughter, her children, and I have endured quite a significant amount of betrayal and hardship. Someone we both assumed was a loyal friend turned out to be a spiteful enemy. Discovering this was heartbreaking.

We had to move into this person's home, when we moved to Ohio, because otherwise we would've been homeless; and homelessness is not something toddlers need to experience. While we lived with this person and her family, my daughter was treated like a servant, forced to give up her food stamps for the other family, and psychologically abused by her and her boyfriend.

Since moving out, they've deliberately set out to defile mine and my daughter's reputations; slowly, the loyal friends we still have, are also cutting all ties with this other family. Our lives are now moving in a positive direction. And, it feels so good to be able to breathe again!

We got a 3-bedroom apartment, in an income-based apartment complex; the Littles are learning to share a bedroom, with each other...but without Mommy. This will be a rather long process, because they're used to co-sleeping with Mommy; they love their Big Kid beds, just not the idea of sleeping without her. We started Big Kid sleep training during nap time; it's not dark, so it's less scary.

I wish I had more photos; I'd love to show you around! As you come through our front door, in our second floor apartment, you're standing in the living room; to the right is the kitchen. On the other side of the living room is the hallway...the kids' room is to the left, the bathroom is in front of you; and as you walk down the hall (turning to the right), my room is on the left, and my daughter's room is at the end of the hall. We have a massive wall of windows, with a sliding glass door, in the living room. Outside the glass door is a balcony; we call it a porch, because that's easier for the kids to understand. They really like that they can go out on the "porch" by themselves! LOL!

The kids are becoming very good helpers, too....they can put their own toys away, throw garbage in the trash can, and sweep up messy floors. Of course....they enjoy making messes, much more than cleaning them up! LOL! They love movie time with Grammy, too; they sit on my lap, in the recliner, and we watch Netflix together.

My daughter has been busily getting herself some much needed therapy, to overcome the four years and three months of abuse she's suffered at the hands of people she thought she could trust. She has also had oral surgery, to remove broken and dead teeth; she's anticipating getting implants, within the next few months. As of now, she's rocking a temporary upper plate; she has to learn how to talk and eat, while wearing her false teeth, which is proving to be quite a task!

As soon as all of her ducks are lined up, I'll be getting my own in order, as well. Right now, she needs me to be home with the Littles...and I don't mind that, at all.

I need this in my life! LOL!
